How to Doodle an Open Door

Step 1

To doodle an open door, begin by drawing an upright rectangle in the middle of your page. Your rectangle doesn’t need to be perfect. Doodling is not about perfection but rather getting ideas across in an effective way.

Let’s now doodle the door using straight lines. The upper and bottom lines should extend out on a 45-degree angle. Make sure that these lines are of equal length. Then close the shape with another straight line connected to the end of the two original lines you drew.

Step 3

To give your door a 3-dimensional look, use three more straight lines. However, this time the lines will be angled in the opposite direction on a 45-degree angle as shown in the example. Then again, close the shape by drawing a straight line connecting the two lines.

Step 4

Now draw another rectangle that will represent the doormat. This time the rectangle will be stretched out horizontally as shown within the example. Pay particular attention to the angles of the two outer lines (on the left and right). Notice how they are angled outwards to fit in the angle of the door. The angles here don’t need to be perfect. But angling them outward will certainly make the door scene we are drawing look more realistic.

Add the final touches to your door by doodling a handle and some lines on your doormat. Also, use lines to add a shadow effect to the side of the door. Then color in your doodle. Doors can, of course, come in many different colors. Therefore, feel free to use your imagination. 🙂

Doodling a microphone can be a little tricky. So make sure to follow the visual steps in this example. Begin by doodling the mid-section of your microphone using straight and curved lines as shown within the example.

Time now to draw the base of your microphone. For the base, use oval and arc shapes. Because part of the base is hidden behind the mid-section of the microphone, make sure that you don’t close your oval shape fully.

Doodle the top of your microphone using curved lines and arc shapes. Try and keep the spacing between the lines consistent.

Let’s now give your microphone a little added detail. Use lines and circles for this purpose to doodle the buttons and the shadow effect as shown within the example.

Begin by drawing the front bill of your money doodle. To do this, use curved and straight lines as shown in the above example.

Let’s now add additional bills so that we can grow our money. 😉 Again use curved lines for this purpose. Try and keep the lines evenly spaced.

It’s time now to close off the shapes by adding several straight lines to your money doodle as shown within the example.

Our doodle doesn’t quite yet look like a money doodle. We can fix that up very quickly by adding a dollar sign to the front bill. Add a couple of curved lines on either side of the dollar and some dots to every corner of each dollar bill.

The final step is to give our money some needed color. Money comes in a variety of colors. So feel free to use whatever colors you feel suit best. In this example, a green color was used. The front bill is a little lighter than the bills behind it. This gives our doodle a slight but not so subtle shadow/lighting effect. You can also add a final touch to your doodle by drawing a bit of spark to your money. Why? Not really sure. But it makes our money look a little more desirable. 😉

To doodle an eye, begin by drawing a couple of curved lines that are part of your visual alphabet. Try and keep the lines even in length and spread at a 45-degree angle.

Doodle another curved line between your original two lines. This curved line will become the eyeball. Try and keep the curved line evenly spread at the center of the point of the other two lines.

Next, you will now draw another curved line or arc shape, but this time it’s facing the opposite way. Try again to doodle it at the horizontal center as shown in the example above.

Let’s now add three straight lines to your doodle of an eye. These lines are used to highlight the vision of the eye as it looks forward into the distance.

The final step is to give your eye some color. Eyes can come in a variety of colors including brown, black, green and blue. And because this is just a doodle, the color doesn’t need to be realistic. Feel free to add purple, red, yellow or any other color you feel works best for your doodle. 🙂

To doodle a target, begin by drawing a small circle in the middle of your page. Now doodle three larger circles around the outside of the smaller circle. Each circle is a little larger than the circle inside. Try and keep the space between the circles even.

To doodle the legs of the target, use straight lines. First, draw the front legs, then doodle the back legs. Notice how the back legs are only partly visible because the front legs cover them.

Next, doodle the top of the target using a simple arc shape. This is part of the stand that the target is attached to.

Let’s now doodle an arrow sticking out from the center of the target. To draw the arrow use straight lines as shown in the example above.

Let’s now give our books 3-dimensions. To do this, draw straight lines on a 45-degree angle extending toward the right. The key here is to keep the angles and lengths of the lines consistent.

Next, let’s close off the shapes by adding additional lines. Now, as you can see, our books are starting to take shape. We just need to add a few final touches. 🙂

Use an arc-shape for the top of your sign. For the bottom of your sign, use a couple of straight lines evenly spaced apart. These lines will become the post for your sign.

Now write STOP in the middle of the octagonal shape. You can, of course, write whatever you like. There is no written rule that this has to be a STOP sign. 🙂

Begin by doodling the handle of the spanner on a 45-degree angle as shown in the example. Try and keep the gap between the lines equal.

Use curved and straight lines to doodle the head of the spanner. You can either doodle the head in one stroke, or you can doodle it in pieces.

Now we want to doodle a pencil. Because the pencil will be placed behind the spanner, we need to doodle it in two pieces. Use straight lines for this purpose as shown in the example.
