How to Doodle Indecision

How to Doodle Indecision

Step 1

drawing indecision

If someone asked you to visualize INDECISION, what would you draw? Let’s take a look at goofy doodle that we could use for this purpose. To begin your doodle, draw an oval in the middle of your page.

Step 2

draw indecision

On this oval shape, we will draw eyes and a mouth, thereby, turning it into a doodle head. Use two smaller oval shapes for the eyes. Also, include two arc shapes for the eyeballs. Then use a squiggly line for the mouth. With this facial expression, we are trying to get across that this cartoon character is a little confused.

Step 3

doodling indecision

To highlight that there is INDECISION here, draw two arrows pointing in opposite directions on either side of the head. One arrow is pointing right and the other arrow is pointing left. Use straight lines to draw the arrows.

Step 4

doodle indecision

To further highlight that there is INDECISION here, let’s draw the top part of the question-mark above the head. Our head, subsequently, becomes the dot on our question-mark.

Step 5

how to doodle indecision

Finish your INDECISION doodle off by giving it some color. And there you have it. This is our visual interpretation of what it feels like to be indecisive. But this is, of course, just one way to visualize indecision. How many other ways can you think of?

How to Doodle Income

Step 1

drawing income

If someone asked you to visualize INCOME, what would you draw? How about a visual showing money being placed in a wallet. Begin your INCOME doodle by drawing a part of the wallet. Notice the length and the angles of the lines used within the example.

Step 2

draw income

Use several additional lines to draw the top right side of your wallet. Notice again the length and angles of the lines used within the example. Notice also how a gap has been left at the top middle part of the wallet. There is a reason for this, as we will find out in step 4.

Step 3

doodling income

Let’s now draw the money that will represent our income. Begin by drawing the first dollar note. Notice that the lines used for the money doodle are curved. Notice also how additional layers of notes have been doodled beneath the top note. The curves of the lines match the curves of the top note.

Step 4

doodle income

To show that money is coming in, we will now draw a line that extends from our notes and into the wallet. This will represent that INCOME is coming into our wallet.

Step 5

how to doodle income

Add the finishing touches to your INCOME doodle by giving it some color. And there you have it. This is our INCOME doodle. This is, of course, just one way to visualize INCOME. How many other ways can you think of?

How to Doodle Imagination

How to Doodle Imagination

Step 1

drawing imagination1

If someone was to ask you how to visualize the word IMAGINATION, what would you draw? It requires a little imagination to draw intangible objects. 😉 Let’s give it a go. To begin with, let’s draw what looks like a pawn piece on a chessboard. Notice the size of the head area and the various shapes used to draw the body. This will become an icon of our cartoon character who will be imagining something.

Step 2

draw imagination

Let’s now give our cartoon character some facial features. Use a combination of ovals and arc shapes for the eyes and mouth. Notice how the eyes are looking upwards. This is important as you will see in the next step.

Step 3

doodling imagination

Towards where the eyes are looking, draw several 3-dimensional shapes. You will notice a cube, triangle, a tube, and a disc type of shape. You can follow along with the example, or feel free to draw your own versions of these shapes or anything else imaginative that comes to mind. There are no fixed rules here. These shapes can literally be anything you want them to be. 🙂

Step 4

doodle imagination

To show that our cartoon character is imagining these shapes, draw a thought cloud. Use two small circle shapes extending from the side of the head. Then draw the cloud shape around the 3D shapes as shown in the example.

Step 5

how to doodle imagination

To finish things off, draw three straight lines on the side of the cartoon character’s head. This gives us the impression that they are thinking about something. Then conclude by giving your doodle some color. And there you have it. This is one way to visualize IMAGINATION. But there are, of course, more ways we could doodle IMAGINATION. How many other ways can you think of?

drawing an idea

If someone asked you to visualize an IDEA, what would you draw? How about combining a cartoon head with a light-bulb? To begin your IDEA doodle, draw an oval in the middle of your page. This will become the head of our cartoon character.

Step 2

draw an idea

Let’s now draw some features on the head. Use an arc shape for the nose and mouth. Then use three straight lines on top of the head. These lines will represent the formation of an idea. They are action-oriented lines that symbolize that something is moving or happening.

Step 3

doodling an idea

Next, draw the light-bulb inside the head of our cartoon character. Start your doodle at the base of the light-bulb then work your way up to the bulb area. Notice the placement of the light-bulb inside the head of our cartoon character.

Step 4

doodle an idea

To show that an idea is churning inside the cartoon character’s head, draw connected v-shapes around the light-bulb. Notice the size of these v-shapes and the distance between them and the light-bulb.

Step 5

how to doodle an idea

Add the finishing touches to your IDEA doodle by giving it some color. And there we have it. This is our IDEA doodle that we can add to our visual vocabulary library of doodles. But this is, of course, just one way to draw an IDEA. How many other ways can you think of?

How to Doodle History

Step 1

drawing history

If someone asked you to visualize HISTORY, what would you draw? This is a tough one, and yet at the same time, we could do this in a number of ways. For this example let’s draw a clock that’s moving backwards. Begin your doodle by drawing the outer edges of our clock. Use a couple of arc shapes for this purpose. Notice the gap.

Step 2

draw history

Let’s now draw the north, east, south and west sides of our clock face. Use a rectangle for this purpose. Also, draw an arrow that points to where 9 o’clock would be.

Step 3

doodling history

Now draw an oval in the middle of your clock face. The size of this oval doesn’t really matter. You can go bigger or smaller.

Step 4

doodle history

Now draw the hands on the clock face. Where you point the hands makes no difference. We have enough information to give us the idea that this is a clock we are drawing.

Step 5

how to doodle history

Add the finishing touches to your clock by giving it some color. And there you have it. This is our representation of HISTORY. The clock face represents us moving back in time, which takes us back to a historical period. This is, of course, just one way to visualize HISTORY. How many other ways can you think of?

How to Doodle a Hierarchy

Step 1

drawing a hierarchy

If someone asked you to visualize a hierarchy, what would you draw? There are, of course, a number of ways we could visualize a hierarchy. Let’s look at one of them in this example. To begin with, let’s doodle a very simple icon that will represent the person on top of our hierarchy. Use a circle and three curved lines to draw this person icon near the top of your page.

Step 2

draw a hierarchy

Let’s now draw three smaller person icons below the larger icon you drew in step 1. Notice how these icons are spread out on the second line of our hierarchy.

Step 3

doodling a hierarchy

Let’s now draw two even smaller person icons on the third line of our hierarchy. We are drawing smaller icons on each row because the smaller the icon the lower their position on the hierarchy.

Step 4

doodle a hierarchy

To show that this hierarchy of people is connected, draw several straight lines connecting the first row to the second row and then to the third row as shown in this example.

Step 5

How to doodle a hierarchy

Add the finishing touches to your hierarchy doodle by giving it some color. You can, of course, change up your hierarchy. I have used icons that represent people, but you can use other icons to represent your hierarchy. You can also change the hierarchy structure if you wish.

If someone asked you to doodle HIDING, what would you draw? How about a cartoon character hiding behind a wall. To begin your doodle, draw a half oval shape as shown within the example. This oval shape will become the head of our cartoon character.

Step 2

draw hiding

To draw the facial features of your cartoon character, use arc shapes for the eyes and nose. Then use several more arc shapes for the eyebrows and hair. Then add a couple of dots for the pupils of the eyes.

Step 3

doodling hiding

We want to show that our cartoon character is peering over a wall. We will, therefore, show him holding onto the wall with his fingers. To draw these fingers use elongated oval shapes doodled side by side. Doodle three on each side of the head.

Step 4

doodle hiding

Let’s now draw the top section of the wall. This is the section of the wall that our cartoon character is holding onto with their fingers. Use several straight lines to draw the wall. Notice how the wall extends right below the top visible section of the fingers, below the visible part of the head, and right under the nose.

Step 5

If someone asked you to draw a heartbeat, how would you visualize it? Drawing a heart seems easy enough, but doodling a heartbeat makes things a little more tricky. But let’s give it a go. 🙂 Begin your heartbeat doodle by drawing to upside-down oval shapes in the middle of your page. These shapes will become the top section of our heart.

Step 2

drawing a heartbeat

Let’s now doodle a visual representation of the rhythm of our heart. To do this, use a combination of straight and v-shaped lines. Notice the angles of the lines within the example. You can copy this exactly, or mix things up a little. Now we have a visual representation of the beating rhythm of our heart.

How to Doodle a Headache

Step 1

drawing a headache

If someone asked you to doodle a visual representation of a headache, what would you draw? There are a number of ways we could go about this. Let’s take a look at one example. Begin by drawing an oval in the middle of your page. Notice how the oval isn’t fully closed on the top right section. This is done on purpose as you will see below. This oval becomes the head of our cartoon character.

Step 2

draw a headache

Use two curved lines to draw the body of your cartoon character. Notice the length of these two lines. Notice also how they mirror each other. This now becomes the top part of the body for our cartoon character.

Step 3

doodling a headache

Let’s now doodle an excruciating face on our cartoon character. We want to show that our character is in pain. Use v-shapes for the eyes, an arc-shape for the nose and an upside-down curved shape for the mouth. Notice how in combination these shapes show that our character is in some kind of discomfort.

Step 4

doodle a headache

Now, to visualize that our character is experiencing a headache, we are going to doodle what looks like a lightning bolt shooting through his head. Use straight lines and v-shapes to draw this lightning bolt. Notice how a part of this lightning bolt is outside the head and a part of it is inside the head.

Step 5

How to doodle a headache

Add the finishing touches to your headache doodle by giving it some color. Notice also how I have added several curved lines on the side of the head to indicate that the head is moving slightly from side to side. This tends to add a little more emphasis on the pain aspect of our doodle. And there you have it. This is a doodle of a headache. But this is, of course, just one way to visualize a headache. If someone asked you to visualize a haunted house, what would you draw? What does a haunted house even look like? Not an easy answer. But let’s doodle something and see how it goes. 😉 First off, haunted houses are kind of oddly shaped and include multiple stories. So let’s draw an odd shape of a house with a ground floor and tower-like structure in the middle. Notice the rounded corners and the free-flowing lines in the example.

Step 2

draw a haunted house

Let’s continue with the odd shapes for our haunted house. Let’s now doodle another storey to the side of our main haunted building. Notice the triangle-like structure of these shapes. Also, notice the curved and unpredictable lines. You can, essentially, use your imagination here are draw a variety of different shapes.

Step 3

doodling a haunted house

Every haunted house has large and oddly shaped windows. So let’s draw them in. Use straight lines for this purpose, but mix up the angles of your lines to give each window an odd shape. Follow the example above, or create your own variation of these windows.

Step 4

doodle a haunted house

Haunted houses are occupied by a variety of ghosts, ghouls, bats, and other nasty critters. Therefore, let’s showcase that this house is haunted by drawing a ghost figure at the top right of our house. Feel free to experiment with the size and facial expressions of your ghost.
