How to Doodle a Piano

Step 1

Doodling a piano is easy if you know how to draw a rectangle and line. 🙂 The piano doodle is generally made up of a combination of lines and rectangles stacked on top of one another. Pay particular attention to keeping the angles of your lines at 90 degrees and the distances between each line even, as shown in the example below.

Next, doodle the piano keys. Again, use rectangles and lines for each key. Be sure to keep your lines straight and even. Also, doodle three eye shapes on the bottom of your doodle. These eye shapes will represent the pedals of your piano.

Add a 3D effect by doodling the back and side of the piano as shown in the example below. Use straight lines and pay particular attention to the angles of each line as they relate to the other lines. Try to make them even and consistent.

Step 1

Doodling a cup is all about using free-flowing curves. More specifically, it’s about using eye, oval, and arc shapes that are part of our visual alphabet. To begin with, doodle an eye shape in the middle of your page. Then doodle an arc shape connecting to the eye shape as shown in the example below.

Step 2

For this step, use curved lines once again to doodle the cup coaster. Focus on doodling rounded lines that wrap around the base of the cup. No need to fuss too much about whether or not the lines are even. The cup will still look like a cup, and that’s what doodling is all about. 🙂

Step 3

Now use simple arc shapes for the handle of the cup and to show the liquid inside the cup. Whether that liquid is tea, coffee, or something else, doesn’t really matter. However, we will make it appear as though the liquid is hot and steaming in the next step. 🙂

Step 4

In this step, all you’re using is straight and wonky lines. Use straight lines to shade the side of your cup. This will give it more dimension and form. Use a few arc shapes on the coaster. Finally, let’s show that the liquid is steaming hot. To do this, doodle wonky lines extending from the liquid. This gives the impression that steam is rising from your cup of coffee or tea.

The final step is to add some color to your doodle. Use either complementary colors or different shades of the same color. And, of course, don’t forget to color your liquid appropriately. If you’re drinking coffee then a brown color will suffice. Brown colors for teas might also be a good fit, but teas do come in a variety of colors and flavors. And if it’s water you’re drinking, then using a light blue color will work best. Unless, of course, it’s lemon water. Then a tinge of yellow might be exactly what’s needed. 😉

Begin your doodle by drawing a rectangle in the middle of your page. However, leave some room at the top for the mirror.

Use rectangles and arc shapes to doodle the various drawers of your dresser. There are no specific rules here. You can either make it look like the example below or doodle a different configuration.

Next, doodle another rectangle above your dresser. This will represent the mirror. Add a triangle at the top with a dot at the pinnacle to show that the mirror is hanging behind the dresser. Step 1

To begin with, focus on doodling straight lines paying particular attention to consistent spacing and using right-angles as shown in the example below. You, of course, don’t need to get the angles and spacing perfect. A couch does not need to be perfect. Your doodles do not need to be perfect. Your lines can be a little wonky and off-center, and that’s okay. In the end, your doodle will still look like a couch if you progress through the remaining steps.

Step 2

Time to doodle the inner section of your couch. Begin with the cushions. Use slightly curved lines to give the cushions a plump and rounded look. Then doodle a few additional straight lines for the hand rests.

Step 3

For the back rest cushions, use straight lines that are slightly rounded on the corners. These lines don’t necessarily need to be straight. You can curve them slightly or even change the shape and direction of these lines. Couches come in many shapes and sizes. Feel free to experiment. 🙂

Step 4

Time to give your couch a little shading. For this purpose doodle straight lines on the button and inner layers. However, on the back rest cushions, you can curve these lines slightly to show natural folds in the material.
