How to Doodle Logic

Step 1

drawing logic

If someone asked you to visualize LOGIC, what would you draw? This is a tough one. But let’s give it a go. To begin with, draw three squares in the middle of your page. Then within each square, draw a smaller square.

Step 2

draw logic

Within the first square, draw an X. Within the second square, draw a Y. And within the third square, draw a question mark. Then add a “plus” sign between the first and second square, and an equals sign between the second and third square. This will become our formula for LOGIC.

Step 3

doodling logic

To make this doodle more logical, let’s draw a brain in the background. Use a cloud shape to doodle your brain. Notice how the brain stem looks kind of like a high heeled shoe. 🙂

Step 4

doodle logic

Let’s now add some more details to your brain using arc shapes and straight lines. The straight lines on the top left of the brain signify that the brain is actively thinking about something. In this case, it’s thinking about the formula.

Step 5

how to doodle logic

To finish off your LOGIC doodle, give it some color. And there we have it. This is our visual representation of LOGIC. But I’m sure that there are other ways we could visualize LOGIC. What comes to mind?

Step 1

drawing a location

If someone asked you to visualize a LOCATION, what would you draw? How about a map with a location marker? To begin your LOCATION doodle, draw a location marker in the middle of your page. Use an upside-down teardrop shape and an oval shape.

Step 2

draw a location

Use four straight lines to draw the map area. Notice the angles of the two vertical lines on the left and right side of the map. Notice how these lines are angling inwards. We do this to show that the back end of the map is further away from us. It’s all about creating perspective.

Step 3

doodling a location

Let’s now add a little detail to our map. Use curved lines to draw some roads on the map. You can follow the example above, or create your own variation of this.

Step 4

doodle a location

Let’s now draw three lines above the location marker. These are “action” lines that draw attention to the marker. It signifies that something is happening here. And, therefore, encourages our eyes to focus on this area of the doodle.

Step 5

Step 2

draw a lesson

Use an oval shape and a couple of arc shapes to draw a figure behind the lencturn. Notice how it is not necessary to add to much detail. All we are trying to do here is to sell the idea of a LESSON. No complicated drawings are necessary.

Step 3

doodling a lesson

To teach a lesson, we need an audience. To draw your audience, use oval shapes. You will notice in the example that I have drawn four oval shapes. These oval shapes will become the backs of heads of our audience.

Step 4

how to doodle a lesson 04

To show that there is a large audience sitting in front of the speaker, draw several arc shapes above the oval shapes you drew in the previous step. Notice how we don’t have to add any details to these head shapes. They immediately give us the idea that there are more people standing in front of the lencturn.

Step 5

Then use a combination of straight and curved lines on the brain to give it a bit more detail. These now become the foundational pieces of a LEARNING doodle, however, we haven’t yet visualized the connection between the brain and the book. Let’s do that in the next step.

Step 5
