How to Doodle Lion

Step 1

To begin your lion doodle, draw an oval in the middle of your page. This oval shape will become the head of your lion.

Step 2

Let’s now add some more details to the lion head. Use a combination of oval shapes, arc shapes, curved and squiggly lines to draw the ears, eyes, and nose areas.

Step 3

To draw the lion’s mane, doodle a cloud shape around the lion’s head. Notice how the mane is partially hidden behind the lion’s ears.

Step 4

To draw the body of your lion, use a combination of straight lines and curved lines. Draw the front legs first, then draw the backend of the lion. Lastly, draw the lions tail.

Step 5

Add the finishing touches to your lion doodle by giving it some color. Notice how complementary colors have been used. Notice also how one of the back legs is slightly darker than the other legs. This gives us the impression that it’s not reflecting as much light as the other legs. In other words, it’s within a shadow area. A very fine detail that adds to the visual effect of the doodle.
