How to Doodle a Spy

Step 1

drawing a spy

If someone asked you to doodle a SPY, what would you draw? As usual, let’s try and keep this very simple. All we need to do is get the idea of a spy across through our doodle. And when I think of a spy, I visualize a person dressed in black, wearing a hat with sunglasses. Let’s give this a try. First, let’s start with the hat. To draw the spy’s hat, use a combination of v-shapes and straight lines. In the example it kind of looks like a mountain range.

Step 2

Next, let’s draw some facial features. Use straight lines for the eyebrows. Then use a straight line and two arc shapes for the nose. And for the sunglasses, use a combination of straight lines for the frame and arc shapes for the lenses. Notice the angles of all the lines used in the example.

Step 3

Use a combination of straight lines, arc shapes, and v-shapes to draw the spy’s tie. Notice how we are keeping this very simple. No need to complicate things. All we are striving to do is to get the idea across that this is a spy. No drawing classes needed. 😉

Step 4

doodle a spy

Let’s now doodle the suit that our spy is wearing. Again, let’s keep this very simple. Use a combination of straight lines to draw the suit. Notice the angles of the lines and how they get narrow as they come down to the hip area.

Step 5

Add the finishing touches to your spy doodle by giving it some color. And the right color seems to be black. 🙂 We’ll keep the tie white so that it stands out in our doodle. And there we have it. This is our simple visual representation of a spy that you can now use in your visual notes. How many other ways can you think of to doodle a spy?
