How to Doodle a Padlock

Step 1

To doodle a padlock, begin by drawing a rectangle or square in the middle of your page. The rectangle doesn’t need to be perfect. The corners also don’t need to be sharp. They can be slightly rounded.

Step 2

Use an arc shape and place it on top of the rectangle you drew in step 1. Notice the size of this arc shape shown in the example and how it is positioned on the body of the padlock.

Step 3

Now draw another large arc shape around the arc shape you drew in step 2. Notice that the spacing between the two arc shapes is even throughout.

Step 4

Use a combination of arc shapes and straight lines to draw the keyhole of your padlock. Keyholes, of course, come in various shapes and sizes. This too, therefore, doesn’t need to be perfect. Feel free to change this up in your own way.

Step 5

Add the finishing touches to your padlock doodle by giving it some color. And there we have it. This is our drawing of a locked padlock. But what would an open padlock look like? Are you up for the challenge?
