How to Doodle Freedom
If someone asked you to doodle the word FREEDOM using a picture, what would you draw? How about handcuffs with a broken chain. Begin your doodle by drawing two circles in the middle of your page. Notice in the example the size and position of these two circles.
Around each of the two circles, you drew in step 1, draw two arc shapes that almost make a full circle. In the gap, draw a three-sided rectangle shape. Notice the length of the lines and how they are angled in the example.
To doodle the chain of your handcuffs, use a combination of oval shapes and slightly curved lines. Notice how the oval shapes and lines intersect in the example.
Let’s now show that the chain is broken. To do this, draw four arc shapes between the two sections of the handcuffs. Also, doodle keyholes in the handcuffs using an arc shape and three straight lines.
Add the finishing touches to your FREEDOM doodle by giving it some color. This is, of course, just one way to represent the idea of FREEDOM in a visual way. How many other visual examples can you think of?
